Chronology

16.05.2025 Metro Line D will be closed from May 17 to July 25 due to the addition of a new section. We are talking about extending Line D to Wilshire/La Cienega station. Alternatively, passengers are offered express buses, and trains on Line B will run more often.
04.2025 The city began operation of new electric buses model BYD K9MD ER. The ER index denotes an increased autonomous range compared to the BYD K9MD model in operation since 2021. A total of 95 electric buses will be delivered; about 40 of them will operate on J line, and the rest on Metro Local routes, completely replacing the old NABI 45C CNG buses. Electric buses will be served in Division 9 and Division 18.
31.12.2024 The Los Angeles Public Transportation Authority has decided not to purchase additional CRRC HR4000 trains.
Instead, in January 2024, 182 cars of the CRRC HR5000 model were ordered from Hyundai Rotem. The first cars will be operational before the Olympics begin in 2028, and all cars will be on the line by 2030.
20.12.2024 In the metro of Los Angeles, the first train of the CRRC HR4000 model was launched: https://youtu.be/Y6TwIu1Rqfk?si=el0dkqvF_WcLToSY
16.06.2023 Three downtown underground LRT stations have been already opened. These are Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, Historic Broadway, Little Tokyo/Arts District stations, built under the brand of The Regional Connector Transit Project. Thus, the two previously separated LRT networks (A and E line on one hand, and the former L line on the other) are now connected. Two through-running services have been introduced:

A Line — Downtown Long Beach — APU/Citrus College, 78.1 km (48.5 miles),
E Line — Downtown Santa Monica — Atlantic, 35 km (22 miles).

Thereby, the A Line has become the world's longest tram/streetcar/LRT line (78.1 km/48.5 miles), surpassing the previous record holder of Kussttram (Coastal Tram) in Belgium (69 km).
