In Europe, only the Bruges tram factory has been licensed to build trams based on P.C.C. technology.
So this also explains the arrival of an American P.C.C. tram to Belgium in 1947.

Brussels has ordered around 300 of them, in different types and sizes. The first was delivered in 1958, the last in 1978. For the meantime, old trams were modernised, which could indeed be withdrawn when the last (articulated) p.c.c.'s were delivered.

What I said was basically a half-joke. Obviously, it's not a PCC. :D
Also, obviously, Brussels did have true PCCs. All the Tatras (T1 through T4) are PCC derivatives :)

At the same time, San Francisco had some PCC lookalikes that were not, in fact PCCs :)

Цитата (Palal, 12.02.2021):
> single-truck PCCs

I have had several conversations about this with people who know a thing or two about trams.

According to the actual manufacturers who hold legal rights for the original PCC concept, a tramcar only counts as a PCC if its motors are controlled and activated by the means of the so called accelerator. Body type and other such things do not matter.

This has never been a PCC type tramcar, for as far as I understand, its traction is controlled directly.

The original Brussels standard trams were rebuilt according to different schemes.
Trams have been preserved both from the originals (which also underwent minor modernisations over the years) and from all the conversions.
These were the original trams:

https://transphoto.org/vehicle/234410/
There have also been experiments with a small series (1500), which could not carry trailers. This is also a conversion of original standard trams.

A similar series that also originated from the same standard trams is the series 1600, which was able to carry trailers.

These conversions were all except modern, so it was decided to design the 9000 series. More than 100 of these have been "built"!
2 still exist in Brussels, but of course at the tram museum.

And in Washington:

If you think the stock was exhausted, you are wrong.
The 4000 series was also created from 2 standard trams each, resulting in the iconic "room with bath" series. Something like the Gotha G4...

There have been many reasons for these changes, one of which was the suppression of the receivers.
In Belgium, it was not unusual at the time to convert an old tram with a modern look. The whole S series (and variants) of the N.M.V.B./S.N.C.V. is finally based on older vehicles.
Which tram was used exactly - read the numbering - is unfortunately unknown to me. I even think that this is not exactly known.

Super interesting, thanks. Do you have a photo of how these trams looked before the new body was put into place?

A monkey with a costume remains a monkey.
These were old two-axle trams that were simply given a new body.
The body was indeed based on the Brussels P.C.C. 7000 prototype of 1952.

However, the trams never satisfied: they were not only technically outdated, but also far too small and could not carry a trailer.
This model also had only 16 seats! The Tram Museum has preserved 2 trams from this series, but they are also difficult to use due to their limited capacity.
These trams are therefore only used for a tram parade or for journeys for tram enthusiasts.

As always: with pleasure.
Due to its location, the tram company has rarely been visited.
Only 2 foreign groups have visited this tram company: Thomas Fischer in 1995 and a group of Brussels tram enthusiasts.
Their photos were once quite easy to find in the Brussels tram museum, but now the subject is so outdated and forgotten that this will no longer be the case.
At least, some of these photos are now visible to the general public.
