The Portram service is the Light Rail line built in place of the old railway line in the north of Toyama, between the city and its seaport. The Light Rail service commenced 29.04.2006. The line is known as Toyamakō Line and retained its old railway designation. Portram is considered the first modern Light Rail project in Japan.

The Portram light rail line will be connected to the city Centram network via the tunnel under the station on March 21, 2020. The construction of the tunnel is visible in the background of this photo.

The Portram light rail line was built in place of the former railway line. The new service was rerouted via city streets of the northern Toyama business district, leaving this segment unused.

Новая тупиковая конечная трамвайная станция была открыта 14.03.2015 прямо в здании ж.д. вокзала Тояма, что совпало с открытием линии скоростного поезда Hokuriku Shinkansen. Трамвайная станция была преобразована в сквозной туннель 21.03.2020. Тем самым появилось соединение между городской трамвайной сетью Centram и линией скоростного трамвая Portram с конечной на северной стороне вокзала.

The new stub-end tramway terminal inside the Toyama Main Railway Station opened March 14, 2015, coinciding with the opening of the high-speed Hokuriku Shinkansen service. The station will be converted into a through tunnel on March 21, 2020, connecting the central city Centram tramway network and the Portram Light Rail line with the terminal on northern side of the station.

This is a new bridge completed March 24, 2012. The previous bridge was narrow and featured a single tramway track.

A photographers' tip. The snow-copped mountains of the Northern Japan Alps range could be captured as a background in photos in the late afternoon. This is perhaps the only location on the city tramway network Centram with an unobstructed view of the mountains down the line:

Подсказка фотографам. Во второй половине дня на мосту возможно сделать снимок со снежными вершинами гор Северной Японской Альпийской гряды на заднем плане. Это практически единстенное место в рамках городской трамайной сети Centram, где по оси трамвайной линии видны горы:

Trams operating the Lines 2 and 3 stop at the station by way of changing ends mid-route. Trams serving the Line 1 terminate at the station.

The Centram yard shed is located some 300 meters down the line after the Minami terminal station. The Minami station facility is shared between city trams and the suburban line operated by the same carrier as the trams - both stations are visible in this photo. The tramway Depot is located behind the photographer.
