Lakewood Heritage Center Historic Line

Lakewood, Federal Center

The site was bought by the government during WW II and used for military reasons. A branch line of the then existing tram system was built to transport personnel there. The tracks would not only have originated from this period (they were hardly used after WW II) but this tram would also have occasionally run there as route 84!
Military activities have long ceased here and all kinds of official authorities are housed on the site.

Closed body. Railroad roof. Double-end car. 1950 — 1953 : in use as museum vehicle by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club. Later this tram was placed in the Colorado Railroad Museum. 1988 : to Denver Federal Center. 2010 : the restoration is finished after 24000 volonteer hours.
