The number of new Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses entering passenger service is growing rapidly. Meanwhile, the charging infrastructure for these buses is still not ready: issues with contractors have meant that it has not been possible to bring them into service at the start of 2026.

Electric buses are still only charged at the depot.

Preparations for the installation of charging stations at the layover site for the X7 express bus route, which connects Rudow U-Bahn station with Berlin Airport.

Pictured is an information sheet detailing the work being carried out (scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2026), as well as the concrete base for the future charging station (there will be three in total).

Подготовка к установке зарядных станций на площадке для межрейсового отстоя автобусов экспресс-маршрута X7, соединяющего станцию U-Bahn Rudow с берлинским аэропортом.

Это значит, что в скором времени автобусное депо Britz станет вторым берлинским парком, использующим современные сочленённые электробусы Solaris. Пока что все электрические 18-метровые новинки поступают в депо Indira-Gandhi-Straße.

Preparations for the installation of charging stations at the layover site for the X7 express bus route, which connects Rudow U-Bahn station with Berlin Airport.

This means that the Britz depot will soon become Berlin’s second garage to use modern Solaris articulated electric buses. For now, all the new 18-metre electric buses are being delivered to the Indira-Gandhi-Straße depot.

Строительство зарядной станции для перевода маршрута №255 на более полноценное обслуживание электробусами. Помимо этой конечной, зарядки также устанавливают у станций S-Bahn Marzahn и Kaulsdorf. Все три комплекса введут в строй в начале 2026 года.

Construction of a charging station to convert route №255 to a more complete service with electric buses. In addition to this terminal, charging stations are also being installed near the Marzahn and Kaulsdorf S-Bahn stations. All three complexes will be commissioned in early 2026.
