Metro Mondego: Testing and Introduction

In 2024, Metro Mondego began the first full operational tests of its new Metrobus system on the former Ramal da Lousã railway corridor, which was closed in January 2010 to allow the line to be converted into a light-rail system. This was later changed to a metrobus instead of light-rail.

These activities included running trials with the vehicles, verification of technical specifications, and testing of the optical‑guidance system designed to ensure precision docking at stations. Initial tests were carried out on the Serpins – Alto de São João section, the most advanced part of the network. These trials marked the introduction phase of the system ahead of public service, following the delivery of the first vehicles and the completion of key infrastructure segments.

Coimbra, Zhong Tong N18 (LCK6186EVG) Nr. 001 — Construction site visit

Estação Corvo

First vehicle of fleet used to visit the construction of Estação Corvo near city of Miranda do Corvo (~20km from Coimbra). Note that the vehicle is not registered in Portugal and used the metrobus route, which is completely separate from public roads. The metrobus route is going to replace a railroad branch called "Ramal da Lousã" which was closed in 2010.
