Trolleybus operation has been suspended following damage to the overhead caused by a passing track. Trolleybus batteries are deemed to weak to support operation in an autonomous rechargeable electric bus mode. Between 2017 and approximately 2020 trolleybus operation was maintained by way of vehicles being charged at the depot. |

Trolleybus revenue service opens. The 11 km-long line Massira — Guliz is operated with 10 Veyron G92 12 meter-long trolleybuses delviered, equipped with auxiliary power option, manufactured by the Chinese builder Dongfeng Yangtse (out of 15 such vehicles ordered). Trolleybuses operate between 6-23 hours on a 6 min. headway during rush hours, and 12 min other times. The overhead is not used due to absence of certification by the local authorities. Trolleybuses are being recharged at the depot, and operate in the autonomous rechargeable electric bus mode. A network expansion is planned for 2019, for which Dongfeng Yangtse will deliver 20 additional 18 meter-long articulated vehicles.

Trolleybus revenue service started from 29.09.2017. The 11 km-long line Massira — Guliz was operated with 10 Veyron G92 12 meter-long trolleybuses, equipped with auxiliary power option, manufactured by the Chinese builder Dongfeng Yangtse. 15 such vehicles were ordered, however, only 10 were delivered. The overhead was not used upon system opening due to many technical deficiencies and absence of certification by the local authorities. Trolleybuses were being recharged at the depot, and operated in the autonomous rechargeable electric bus mode.
A visitor to the city observed on 03.02.2020 that trolleybuses now operated using the overhead. The overhead was out of use again for the duration of the summer in 2021 due to technical problems.
On 22.03.2022 the trolleybus operation has been suspended following damage to the overhead caused by a passing track. At that point trolleybus batteries were deemed to weak to support operation in an autonomous rechargeable electric bus mode.
A network expansion was planned for 2019, for which Dongfeng Yangtse was to deliver 20 additional 18 meter-long articulated vehicles. This plans never came through.
