Due to a shortage of trolleybuses, the South Hamgyong Provincial Party Committee mobilises buses to supplement trolleybus services. The provincial party committee has also ordered the production of new trolleybuses at the Hamhung Automobile Parts Factory.

2025 г.

At some time between 2024 September and 2025 March, the previously unused trolleybus line between the junction at Somun-dong and Sohamhung (total length 1.2 km) is placed into operation again, around 20-30 years after regular trolleybus services ceased on this line.

The South Hamgyong Provincial Party Committee undertakes an extensive trolleybus repair program, conducting repair works on several dozen trolleybuses and normalising operation of trolleybus services.
