You can have manually-driven trains with PSDs.

Not very typical, but...

The Jubilee Line in London was automated in 2011. Prior to this, it was manually operated (with some speed controls).

Paris Metro Line 1 for a time operated with both automated and manually-operated trains.

The Union Pearson (UP) express in Toronto, not a metro line, uses platform screen doors at its terminii.


Most BRT systems have automatic platform screen doors.
