2021: if there's no WiFi in a tram, we will probably find another way to sent our mails.
1963: a letter-box on the tram was provided for posting letters and hopefully the postal services would one day empty it...

In Hamburg (as well as in some other cities, too) this was common practice around that time.

I think this also happened in many other cities. Until +/- 1980 post bags were still being handed out with regular vehicles on the Belgian coastal tram. These bags were placed next to the driver and were then collected by a postman at the desired stop or station.
