The transfer between the tram and the monorail is perhaps the worst-designed transfer ever. It involves a lengthy walk over the pedestrian bridge, and then through the multi-story parking lot, right amid parked cars - all without air-conditioning. The monorail line was originally clearly designed to be accessed by driving and parking next to the terminal on the Dubai-side of the marina it serves.

I did the same walk...
Both modes of transport (+ the battery tram) were eventually acquired as a form of toy. No matter how one looks at it, it is an isolated line that accidentally met a local transport need, but otherwise had no future. Expansions are not planned.
The project manager at the time was and is a well-known tram enthusiast: the client's main concern was that the most impossible could be realised.
This, of course, is true: Dubai is an artificial city, founded in the middle of the desert and with extreme temperatures and weather conditions (sandstorms). Every problem just had to be solved with money...

It's also by hasard that this transfer through the car park got there: the client didn't see (and does not see) the need for it...
