In order to carry out all kinds of work in the tram tunnels and viaducts, the tram company has a very extensive fleet of work trams at its disposal.
These are older passenger trams, which are themselves the result of various renovations and whose oldest components date back to the 1930s. Maintenance and repair are becoming increasingly difficult, and the local tram company has taken over four trams from De Lijn, formerly Antwerp and Ghent. Incidentally, it has been a long time since the N.M.V.B. had the same vehicle running in three different cities!
At the time of my visit, there were two trams in the workshop (not accessible) and two in the depot, including this one and another that still bore its original De Lijn number.
There are no plans for major renovations here.
