Informace
Pescara is the most populated city in the Abruzzo region of Italy with 118.657 residents and located on the Adriatic coast.
The first electric transit system was the interurban trolleybus line Pescara – Castellammare Adriatico, which was launched on 15 June 1903. It was Italy’s first trolleybus system. The 1.4-kilometer trial route was closed as early as 1904.
In the 1990s, plannings began for a new interurban trolleybus line from Pescara to Montesilvano. After 30 years of preparation and construction, the line with the designation V1 operating partly without overhead wires was opened on September 11, 2025. It connects the central railway station in Pescara with a shopping mall in Montesilvano. The lenght of the track equipped with overhead wires is 6.5 kilometres. It is served with Van Hool articulated trolleybuses and Yutong electric buses and belongs to the TUA Abruzzo transport company.
