Built by Ōsaka Sharyō Kōgyō for Ōsaka in 1956 using components of older trams; rebuilt by Naniwa Kōki into 800 class before transfer to Kagoshima in 1968-69; rebuilt by Aruna Kōki into 9500 class in 1995. Cars 9501 and 9502 out of 15 in this class feature a more round-shaped AC box on the roof.
