Once again the MTS expansion project is brought up. This time it is said that Metropolitano de Lisboa will start researching the expansion into Costa da Caparica (phase 1a in this map).
Phase 1b would provide a bypass of central Almada.
Phase 2 (Corroios — Alhos Vedros) is proposed in two options — either LRT or BRT.
Phase 3 (Alhos Vedros — Montijo — Alcochete) is proposed only as BRT and is something new, possibly added due to the project of Lisbon's new airport project in Montijo moving ahead (but not yet approved), but also connection to Freeport shopping center in Alcochete would be made.
This latest proposal would cover the entire south bank of Lisbon metropolitan area and connect 6 municipalities — Almada, Seixal, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Alcochete.
