Весь этот цирк длился три с лишним года с момента внесения изменений в контракт в начале 2023 года. Мало того что компания вместо обещанных 6 машин в месяц поставляла кратно меньше, так еще и 2/3 продукции возвращались на завод для устранения косяков. В начале января и вовсе встали все 60 на тот момент введённых в эксплуатацию машин, и электрификация линии J сдвинулась минимум на 5 месяцев. Выездным бригадам технарей BYD пришлось буквально поселиться в Лос-Анджелесе, чтобы сутками ковыряться в своих недоработках. За всё это безобразие LA Metro подаёт в суд на BYD, юристы будут требовать наложения штрафных санкций и исключения из списка поставщиков.

Not only did BYD consistently fall short of its promised delivery rate of six units per month, but two-thirds of the delivered fleet had to be sent back to the manufacturer for remedial repairs. The situation peaked in early January when all 60 commissioned units were grounded, delaying the full electrification of the J Line by at least five months. Consequently, BYD’s field crews have essentially been living in Los Angeles, working around the clock to fix their flawed machinery. As a result, LA Metro is initiating legal action against BYD, with its legal team set to pursue liquidated damages and the formal debarment of the manufacturer from future procurement cycles.
